Course content
Koizumi Setsu, the model for the protagonist of the TV drama series "Bakeke," was deeply involved in Hearn's creative activities, from searching for source material for his retellings to the narration and revision process. The Matsue folklore that Setsu was familiar with inspired him to create masterpieces in his later years, such as "The Snow Woman," "The Rebirth of Katsugoro," "The Story of O-Tei," "The Foolish Man," and "Aoyagi." These retellings have also given rise to new artistic expressions and urban legends, and sometimes even served as medical resources. We consider the meaning of the enduring "ghost stories."
