Hiroshi Abe's picture books, which depict animals with plenty of humor and vividness, have gained overwhelming popularity among a wide range of generations.
Abe was born in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, and spent 25 years as a zookeeper at Asahiyama Zoo, where he was in charge of various animals. Having spent so much time with animals, he accurately depicts their characteristics, such as their skeletons, muscles, fur, movements, and habits, and his picture books are truly animal picture books by an "interpreter connecting the natural world and humans."
We will introduce the charm of Hiroshi Abe's animal picture books, which "depict the emotions" he encounters in zoos and nature, through his original illustrations.
